Rite Aid has been sued over throwing away pharmacy documents with patient information into the dumpsters behind their stores. This leaves patient information unprotected and violates healthy privacy laws.
Rite Aid settled for $1 million and will retrain their employees on proper disposal.
Last year, CVS was sued in a similar situation and settled for $2.25 million.
Authorities say Walgreens will be next in the investigation.
